Armed with 2 small triple barrel ion cannons, 2 medium single ion cannon and 8 dual barrel turbolasers the Dagger class corvette sole purpose is to hunt and destroyer fast ships like the blockade runner. Fast and agile it sees action against both pirates, smuggles and rebels alike.
Final version I hope everyone likes how it turned out. It is the best Star Wars design I made thusfar in my opinion.
A very visionary diversion from the classic triangular shape of an ISD. I really liked the scale and purpose of the craft. The Empire really lacked in fast attack ships in capital scale department during the Rebellion era & beyond. Placing of the weapons is also very good with an equal emphasis for dorsal & ventral firearcs. However, I think, due to lack of point defense laser cannons, it would suffer against almost every other rebel starfighter capable of delivering a heavy punch like x-e-b-y wings, without the asistance of starfighters of its own. I have mixed feelings for the bridge section. Although it is beneficial to bury the bridge into the hall & command the ship from a Command center room as in BS Galactica, Star Wars Universe seems to favor the visual scanning mode (looking out from a viewport in english ) almost as frequently as using sensor equipment. In the end it is an aestetic choice of the artist and may vary from one person to another. Overall, it is a very beatiful, fresh, original yet very imperial ship that could easily help to make the next crap Disney will call Star Wars worth watching after all had it been included in the project. Well done!
I'm guessing that a smaller vessel like this doesn't require a large bridge size anyway, but to see the bridge tucked safely against the hull makes a great deal more tactical sense (still remember that A-Wing! )
The presentation is reminiscent of several of those Star Wars Technical Manual type prints and really adds to the overall 'feel' of the piece being informative without being cluttered.
All in all, a nice design that wouldn't go amiss in the later eras of the Star Wars Galaxy and nicely executed in an artistic and technical sense.
What are those spherical devices on the sides? They look like gravity-well projectors, but you said the ship was designed to hunt down enemies, not lie in wait for them.
Well that should make space battles/pursuits between pirates and police forces a whole lot more interesting.... Keep it up it's a intriguing design....
