Dagger Class Heavy Corvette by HandofManos Dagger Class Heavy Corvette by HandofManos
Armed with 2 small triple barrel ion cannons, 2 medium single ion cannon and 8 dual barrel turbolasers the Dagger class corvette sole purpose is to hunt and destroy fast ships like the blockade runner. Fast and agile it sees action against both pirates, smugglers and rebels alike.

Final version :) I hope everyone likes how it turned out. It is the best Star Wars design I made thusfar in my opinion.

This no doubt is the best custom Imperial ship I have ever seen in my entire life. As always, a fresh take on a series can make for some amazing results.
It's true with this one, making for one of the most simple yet elegant and amazing designs for Star Wars universe. The unforgettable triangular shape is still here but with a slight twist. The bridge area, shield generators and weapons placement are different than what we are used to in a typical ISD so the ship looks quite unique.
No doubt the technical quality is also here. Star Wars designs are very popular for their greebles and it's nice seeing a ridge full of small objects as well. The plating on it also helps on getting a grip of its scale.
Not much can be said about colors, but I'm sure the Empire would be happy with that :)
The only gripe I have is with the weathering which might be a bit too hard on such a big ship. It's not a big flaw though and doesn't do much damage to the design.
What do you think?

Quite agree with AdamKop on all he said there.

I'm guessing that a smaller vessel like this doesn't require a large bridge size anyway, but to see the bridge tucked safely against the hull makes a great deal more tactical sense (still remember that A-Wing! :) )

The presentation is reminiscent of several of those Star Wars Technical Manual type prints and really adds to the overall 'feel' of the piece being informative without being cluttered.

All in all, a nice design that wouldn't go amiss in the later eras of the Star Wars Galaxy and nicely executed in an artistic and technical sense.

More please! :)

Very nice! What is the function of the two large spherical structures in the side cutouts?

ETA: never mind, found the answer in the comments.

The only flaw with the design that I can make out is apparently the reactors are on the sides of the Corvette near the engines.

Indeed but those are the gravity well projectors with the reactors being placed more in the center of the hull ;)

o_0...uh...according to Wookiepedia, the smallest vessel able to house gravity well projects is at least 600 meters long.

Also, the projects are often huge blimp-like protrusions on the ships hull.

So, yeah, neat idea but I don't think it fits into the ship cannon very well.

Ah but it has revolutionary new tech :D and simply put it only has a linited range. That being said I guess it is not canon but it never was :D

True but I do like the idea of an imperial corvette. ^_~

Maybe you'll redesign the Liberator-class Cruiser, Dauntless-class Heavy Cruiser, and Bulwark Mark III-class Battle Cruiser one day? :D

Nice design!
This ship has almost flowing lines, something you don't see everyday on a Star Wars ship.
It's a shame the "good" guys never get to fly cool ships like that.

I have got to say this is probably my most favourite incarnation of a Star Wars vessel I've seen since ANH came out in the late 70's.

This is a sweet looking design!
I take it that the silhouette of the Lambda class shuttle is intended to provide a sense of scale.
Nice hull detailing.  Excellent weapons placement.  (Although the Empire often seems to overlook the need to mount heavier firepower at the aft. :) )
This ship, with her ion cannons, looks to be an excellent capture craft, as ion cannons are intended to electronically and electrically disable ships.  I can see why this would be such a swift menace for the Corellian Corvette (Blockade Runner).  It might not quite stand up to a Corellian gunship, but it would definitely give blockade runners and lesser capital ships a run for their money. :)

The Falcon's was X .5, making .5 past light speed.  :)

Hmmmm.....well, let's see...

If your heavy corvette is working in concert with, say, an Interdictor-class cruiser, or any ship that can generate hyperspace gravity well, that cinches up the Falcon's ability to escape to hyperspace.  If the ship is speedy enough in real-space, she could conceivably catch up to and disable the Falcon with the ion cannons....and then Han and company are easy prey for capture....or destruction. :)

So, perhaps say that in real-space, the Dagger can give the Falcon a run for her money, but if the Falcon can get up to light speed in time, then the Falcon is free and clear (unless an Imperial homing beacon is aboard the ship :)  ).

Which is great because if you've even looked at an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, all the serious weapon are on the top deck and little to nothing on the bottom section.

The Rebels never realized this flaw and neither did the imperials, all the Rebels had to bo was attack from underneath the ISD's and they'd be screwed

This was something I addressed on a visual level on my model of an Imperial Star Destroyer (which I am looking to refine in the near future).  I physically emplaced a number of turbolaser cannon all over the ship, especially on the ventral section, since Episode IV had the ISD firing considerably from the belly of the beast.  It's just that the turbolasers were too small to see at the time :D )

These are cool. You should keep doing these Star Wars concepts.
I'de love to see tie defenders, avengers, interceptors, the sovreign class destroyer, and maybe even the executer or eclipse.
