The finished version of the star trek explorer design I've been working on the last couple of days.
Decided to call it the Hudson Class after Henry Hudson a english explorer who sailed to the Arctic for the Dutch East India Company.
Information:
Having a crew of 280 with an emergency capacity to carry up to 3000 people the Hudson is one of several new programs commisioned by Starfleet Command to increase its exploration fleet.
Armed with two phaser rings on the saucer, dual photon/quantum launcher located in the neck and phaser emitters positioned on the nacelles and engineering section it can stand its own ground when engaging hostiles.
Capable of achieving warp 9.85 (1 hour) its main cruising speed is warp 8 and only needs to return to resupply or refit once in a year.
Nacelles always will be good targets in Star Trek lore with the addition of phasers they might even pick of the odd torpedo or missile so it is not a bad idea per se. The Excelsior also has phaser emitters on the nacelles for example.
Amazing design. I love it. In the new Star Trek movie, the ship designers would have had to use such a design like yours. This is beautiful compared with the ugliness Enterprise from the new movie.
